Biography

Alborz Teymoorzadeh is an Iranian-born visual artist currently based in Brussels. His multidisciplinary background includes painting, music, architecture, graphic design, sculpture, illustration, and photography, shaping his distinctive approach to visual storytelling.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in architecture in Iran in 2011, Teymoorzadeh transitioned into theatre photography and video production, participating in over 100 productions. He has collaborated with notable figures such as Hamid Pourazari, Hassan Madjooni, and Reza Kianian.

In 2019, he moved to Luxembourg to pursue a master’s degree in architecture. During this period, he integrated his architectural knowledge with his artistic endeavors, contributing to various cultural projects.

In late 2024, Teymoorzadeh faced challenges regarding his residency in Luxembourg. Authorities cited insufficient financial resources and a perceived lack of economic value in his artistic contributions as reasons for not renewing his residence permit. This decision sparked significant public backlash and discussions about the value of art in society. Cultural institutions and figures, including the Kulturfabrik in Esch-sur-Alzette, expressed strong support for Teymoorzadeh, criticizing the authorities’ stance.  In response, Teymoorzadeh addressed these issues in an open letter to Prime Minister Luc Frieden, expressing his disappointment and emphasizing the importance of cultural growth.

Despite these challenges, Teymoorzadeh’s work continued to gain recognition. In early 2025, he was invited to exhibit in Wiltz, Luxembourg, as part of the “Dialogue” project. Due to travel restrictions, he could not attend in person, but his work was curated and displayed, reflecting his enduring connection to the Luxembourg art scene.

Currently, Teymoorzadeh continues his artistic practice in Brussels, focusing on projects that explore the intersection of visual arts and human experience. Through his interdisciplinary approach, he aims to connect, inspire, and effect micro-level change in his surroundings.
